"Istorya" is a Masbateño word that means to talk or share a conversation. Inspired by Omegle, an anonymous random chat site that pairs strangers, ISTORYA brings that idea to campus by matching students across different departments. In short, Omegle connects anyone, while ISTORYA connects students, with safer, school-focused matching.
I built this platform so that students in our school can easily connect and chat with new people, especially those who are a bit introverted and find it hard to approach others in person. It is a great way to meet students from other departments and colleges without feeling awkward. I also built this to practice my web development skills and learn new technologies. Although there are still many features I want to add, I am currently limited by budget.
I hope that through Istorya, students can find new friends, share their thoughts, and feel more connected to our campus community. Whether you want to talk about your favorite show, get advice on a project, or just have a random chat, Istorya is here for you. So why not give it a try and see who you might meet? You never know, you might just make a new friend or learn something new about someone from a different department.
Thank you to everyone who tried and used this small project of mine. I truly appreciate it. Special thanks to Camille for designing the logo of this site.
I am a 3rd year Computer Science student at Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology. I enjoy programming and web development, and I like learning new technologies. I believe that privacy is a fundamental right, and I want to create a platform where students can connect with each other without worrying about their personal information being exposed.

We all know college life can get stressful. But did you know that simply chatting with someone new is scientifically proven to help? The World Health Organization (2025) highlights that social connection is a fundamental human need that builds mental resilience.
Additionally, recent studies on university students show that building friendships outside of your usual academic bubble significantly lowers academic anxiety and boosts overall well-being (Li et al., 2025). Whether you're navigating complex projects in your major or just trying to get through midterms, reaching out and talking to someone from a different department can open your mind, build your confidence, and completely turn your day around.
Istorya is a 100% personal project that I made just for fun. It is not officially related to or sponsored by our school in any way. If the site feels a little slow or you can't get into a chat right away, no worriesjust give it a second or try again a bit later! Btw, if you want better matches, tell your friends to hop on! The more people here, the better the chats.
